Paste HTML to check alt copy
Paste HTML that contains <img> elements. The tool counts alt coverage, repeats, short texts, filename-like values and common generic words locally in the browser. No network, no upload, no dependencies.

Definitions
| Item | Definition | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Non-empty alt | alt exists and is non-empty after trimming | No semantic judgement |
| Empty alt | alt="" | A decorative image may be intentional |
| Missing alt | No alt attribute | Separate from empty |
| Repeated | The same text appears >1 time | Different images cannot be told apart |
| Short | ≤2 characters | Sufficiency not judged |
| Filename-like | Ends with .jpg/.png and similar | IMG_ without an extension is not counted |
| Generic | Exact match to a fixed list | A lower bound |
The tool only counts strings: repetition is not automatically wrong, and an empty alt may be decorative; results are for triage, not an accessibility compliance verdict.
Logic: js/alt-text-check.js (no dependencies, no network); scripts/test_alt_text_check.js covers 13 assertion groups (extraction, entities, empty/missing, repeats, short, filenames, generic, sorting, CSV escaping). Run:
node scripts/test_alt_text_check.js
